Scarf it down

We get it, Winter. You've been feeling a little overlooked, what with all the talk about global warming, and you just want to remind us all you're still here. Well, let me assure you that with the third blizzard, you really got your point across. We remember you. You can stop now.

But just in case you don't, I've shelled out $3 bucks for this scarf.

Sweet November

November has arrived, and, with it, inevitably, will come two annual occurrences that arrive like clockwork: the onset of winter and my search for the perfect flat leather boot under $100.

But I must say I'm feeling good about both of these things this year. For one thing, the high yesterday was 70 degrees. For another, I've already found these.

P.S. When you visit the boots at their web site, don't worry about that third commenter down -- the one from Canada, who complains that boots never fit her perfectly toned calves and approves of the wearing of leggings. That's three strikes right there -- we'll take care of her.

Bearded Lady

Ok, so maybe this isn't the usual sort of item we post here on Luckier. But it's on sale for $25. And I'm pretty sure I need one.

Cami Triple Whammy

Summer's coming, and you're going to need more camis. Of course, if winter was coming, I would tell you the same thing, because they're great for layering purposes. So buy a lot. Especially since you can get 3 for $10.

The Snowy Day

Sometimes, nothing goes your way. Sometimes it's Monday morning, and you wake up to a snowstorm, yet another sign that winter is NEVER GOING AWAY, and the knowledge that you have to go into work and deal with all the things that you didn't finish last week, despite staying late every single day.

Sometimes your clients are mad at your entire team for something that admittedly got screwed up, though not because of anything you did, but they can't yell at your entire team and instead will just yell at you, and sometimes you know that that is gonna happen today.

Sometimes your boyfriend will have the day off, on account of the snow, and even though it's just as snowy where you are, and you have never had a snow day in your entire LIFE, you still won't have one today, and instead you will have to GO to work and deal with all of the above.

And then sometimes, if you're really lucky, your building will be evacuated due to a "smoke situation," and you will tell everyone that you are going to work from home, when you really mean you are going to "work" from "home," and you will leave to join that boyfriend-with-the-day-off and go sledding in the park.

If that happens, you should bring a scarf.

Give In, Get Warm

It's official. Spring is never coming. Never, not ever. And as I sit here shivering, about 18 months into this season, I am abandoning my ban on sweater purchases. That ban is based in part on sweaters' itch factor, but mostly on the fact that I literally just can't fit another bulky item into the blanket chest I supposedly share, if you believe in a broad definition of "sharing" in which I get to utilize every square inch of the blanket chest to store my stuff and must to cram your things into the bottom of your closet, and, even then, only until I colonize that territory in the name of the republic of Jayn, which, you may have already shrewdly deducted, is not a democracy. I need this $35 Lucky sweater to last me through this interminable season; cute with a long sleeve T and jeans, or even with a blouse and the teeny wide trousers below.

Sweater Weather (Forever!)

I hate this time of year -- winter is showing no signs of ending, but I'm sick of all my sweaters already. What's a girl to do?

You could take a cue from Jayn and me and plan a trip to Florida. Or you could expand your winter wardrobe. If you're preppy like me, pick up one of these cableknit sweaters in every color (on sale for $20, plus an additional 30% off this weekend!).

If you're a little trendier, tie on this comfy cardigan.

For something a little more luxe, this cashmere turtleneck's on-sale for $40.

Or, if you're the optimistic sort (or perhaps in denial), look ahead to warmer climes with one of these springy, lightweight pullovers.

Bag Lady

I hate camping. I think that sleeping in beds, rather than on the ground, is what separates us from the animals. Also, if the outdoors was so great, why would have built houses? I rest my case.

Yet despite my hatred of camping, I love sleeping bags. They're so warm and comfy, and they have one of my favorite activities (sleeping!) in their very name! (And one of my favorite accessories, "bags.") Which is why I especially like this coat from Brooklyn Industries. It's a sleeping bag you can wear! It's easy to forget on a beautiful summer day how difficult it can be to wake up on an icy February morning. But I remember: it's tough. So make it easier by zipping yourself into this sleeping bag before you step out your door into that frozen tundra. An extra-comfy buffer against the harsh reality of a cold winter day. And it makes it that much easier to sleep on the subway.

It's on sale for $80; plus, true to form, I found a $5-off coupon code. But you're gonna have to find it for yourself. I will teach you to fish, but I won't give you the fish.
