Fear of a Blue Jacket

Everyone has irrational fears. Well, everyone else has irrational fears - mine are all entirely reasonable. Wearing patterns: what am I a clown? Loose teeth: OMG, too scary to even contemplate. Speaking in front of large groups: I might get ridiculed by a significant partner, after presenting at a meeting of firm leaders, who claimed I was reading too much off my notes, hypothetically of course. Lastly, blue: what shoes do you wear, can you wear jeans, what matches it - help me!!

If you are immune to the terror that is the color blue, you should purchase this $17.50 jacket. It comes in both Scary Blue and Blue Fright. Take your pick, just leave me out of it.

Sun, Sun, Go Away

Well, it looks like summer's over. I mean we had our 4 sunny days, so it stands to reason that tomorrow we'll be suffering through yet another big, bad thunderstorm. I give up. I'm just going to buy me this $40 rain coat, toss it on, throw my feet in my Hunters, and I pretty much won't need to change until the first snow. I won't have a shred of sanity left by then, but I'll sure look cute.

Hup Two Three Four (& Five, Six, Seven)

Women are famous for having an insatiable hunger for shoes (or boots). Some of us, though, are outerwear-obsessed. I am that some of us. Which means real problems, since my coat closet is that rare closet shape, a triangle, and is supposably adequate storage for my collection as well as a jacket or two for the other members of my family. Never enough down jackets. Or wool coats. Or long sweaters. Or leather blazers. Or, for some unexplained reason, khaki, army-inspired jackets. It could be the Freaks & Geeks influence. Or the influence of the real life freaks at my high school, the burnouts. (Let's be honest though - when it comes to my influences, the sad truth is that tv is the more likely culprit.) Regardless, I have my eye on this Lucky Brand (surprise!) one for $50, from $169 (use your 40% off coupon), in store only. The other members of my family will have to just store their outerwear in the three corners of my - our - closet.

(H. R.) Puffer Stuff

I waaaaant it. I know I have leather jackets, puffer jackets - but I don't have a leather puffer jacket. How sleek. How slim. How greatly reduced from $350 to $99, and how well worth it.

Get Your Freak Or Geek On

You know how you wish you could re-do high school? If you don't, stop reading right now, I have no use for you. The rest of you, you must watch Freaks and Geeks. I heart "Freaks and Geeks." It's really beyond that. Somehow I slipped over the line from like, past love, skipped right on through obsession, to that state where you begin to proselytize. I tell uninterested parties that they must, right this very second, sign on to Netflix, select it, and move it to the top of their queue.

F&G lets you re-do high school. If you're a chick, you re-do high school as Lindsay, a freak one day, a geek the next. And you do it all in your father's army jacket. I long ago raided my father's army gear, so I had to find a new for my Lindsay jacket. Here are two to choose from. With the code luckybreaks8 ,the shorter, less Lindsay one is $18. The longer one is $45.

Buffet Jacket

My teeny tiny friend Joy has something she calls 'buffet pants.' They are elastic-waisted pants she dons before hitting an all you can eat buffet. But what good are buffet pants, if you bust out of your jacket on the way out of the restaurant? With this adorable jacket though, fat chance! $22.80 (because $23 would be just outrageous).
